real style
apparently, I have real style. look. Style Magazine. that's me. being stylish. in knee-high, new season (now last season), winter Wittner boots, which didn't in fact, team at all well, now that I think about it, with a new Jane Lamerton Weekend, white button-up-and-button-down dress. I thought it might at the time. I thought I'd get away with it. apparently, I did. I was photographed and published wearing it. suckers!
every time I see this picture I am a little bit dismayed. every time I duck into my favourite boutique in Buderim and notice that it is still adorning their dressing room walls, I am appalled and overwhelmed by their confidence in me as a style guru. or maybe they are still sucking up to me because I haven't spent quite enough money in their store. I don't visit them as often anymore. and I don't stay for long. I don't even try on the metalicus, I just choose a new season colour. and style. and I might pick up a belt and decide I could not possibly need another black belt. and then I decide one can never have too many black belts. and then I get outta there as fast as I can! in my boots. and dress.......
but there it is. on the wall. as one stylish woman to many. like a Women's Wear Daily update (I follow WWD on Twitter), my "real style" page proclaims IT'S ALL ABOUT THE BOOTS AND BUTTON-UP DRESS THIS SEASON, BABY! I think it's time it came down, girls. that page. it's time you brought me down. I mean, the boots now are sooo last season! and sadly, or happily, since I still quite like them and I am, after all, a starving artist and, indeed, I am a little delicate in winter and require leather-clad calves to stay warm and survive the harsh Sunshine Coast cold climate; I will be wearing those same boots all through this season too. albeit with jeans. or with my metalicus dresses. which was a magic combo during our recent SHOUT! season. pics coming soon. promise.
THIS dress? a classic. don't you think? I thought so. so much so that I bought three. dresses. and by dresses, I mean THE SAME DRESSES. I really liked...the...style. so I bought three of them. a khaki one, a black one and this one. for a little over three hundred dollars. a bargain, I thought. a real bargain. really.
and now I wear each with pumps. well, maybe boots, baby; sometimes I will team the brown boots with the black dress. but then there is the teeny tiny problem of the gold zippers clashing with the silver buttons. I know. I'm a fashion freak. maybe that should be my next feature article title:
real freak.
